Programme > Total Festum, Béziers June 16th

Within the framework of this scientific event, we have programmed a celebration to promote regional Occitan and Catalan culture: "TOTAL FESTUM" is open to the general public and will take place in Béziers on Wednesday 16 June.

PROGRAMME (changes are possible depending on COVID health conditions on 16 June)

15:00 - 17:00: Visit of the Mediatèca occitana (CIRDOC, Béziers)

On this outing to Béziers, discover the Mediatèca occitana, the CIRDOC - Institut occitan de cultura headquarters. In this public establishment dedicated to preservation and promotion of Occitan culture, librarians and mediators will invite you to discover the institution's rich heritage collections (more than 150,000 items, from the 14th century to the present day). Visits, exhibitions and discussions will enable you to understand almost 1,000 years of a dynamic culture.

18:00 - Concert: Take your hands out of your pockets
14 July square, Béziers

When listening to "trad" music and lulled by dance steps, how can one not think of children? These catchy melodies make one want to do round dancing with the little ones and this is the strength of this intergenerational music, which can incite adults and youngsters to sing along to so-called "children's" songs, but with lyrics that have multiple meanings.

20:30 - Film-Concert: Chronos
Béziers congress centre

In Chronos, Asuelh offers a musical setting for the films made in the 1950s and 1960s by director Michel Cans. These "galleries of family portraits" (according to Max Rouquette), black and white images of the past, are interpreted via a skilful musical and poetic mix by the artists and the film editor Catherine Legrand. Beautiful and moving moments taken from those who are no longer with us, blend with the musicians and the audience of this intimately universal show. The Occitan language is no longer the object, but the interpreter of the mute and out-of-sync material of our time.
